Wellness Kit – Start Living Again!

Startlivingagain_Wellness kit_banner1

Is your life on hold until your arthritis is 'fixed" or your symptoms better? In this kit you'll find an expert video guide to kickstarting life again

Welcome to our Start Living Again Wellness Kit, which we have put together with the help of Dr. David Gillanders, clinical psychologist and Academic Director of Clinical Psychology at Edinburgh University. Dr Gillanders specialises in helping people live well with chronic conditions.

You will find this kit useful if you feel stopped in your tracks by your arthritis diagnosis, or by your symptoms. Maybe you avoid doing things you love, for fear of worsening your symptoms, or perhaps feel that all your energy has to go on “fixing” your symptoms instead of on your hobbies, work or friendships.

In this kit is an introductory article to read first, which explains all about a new talking therapy that is helping people let go of their struggle with their long-term chronic condition and start living again. It’s called Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and Dr Gillanders has helped lots of people with it already.

You’ll also find three videos, which we suggest you watch in order. In these videos Dr Gillanders explains:

  • More about what ACT is
  • How to recognise your own struggle
  • How to reframe your thoughts to find acceptance
  • How to move in directions that are more positive for you

You may even want to watch the videos a few times. There are links for more information too.

We hope you find our Start Living Again Wellness Kit helpful. Remember, you can join our friendly private Facebook group, Arthur’s Place Social, and find more support there.
